Weather, Weather Everywhere!

Hi y’all! I’m Stephanie Spivey, and I’m excited to be part of this wonderful conversation! As we share our educational experiences with each other, it is our hope that we are all inspired to try something new. I taught eight years in the classroom in grades 2, 3, and 4, followed by two years directly serving ESOL and gifted students as a resource teacher. Currently, I am home with my two children, ages 1 and 3, and am enjoying sharing the insights I’ve gained over the last ten years. Thank you for joining us on our journey!
Here in Georgia, it’s not uncommon to experience every
season in the span of a week! A week and
a half ago, we had an ice storm, and last Friday it was 70 degrees! This is truly a southern winter!
What better way to jump start any study of weather,
regardless of the season, than by using your surroundings and students’
experiences! When teaching weather with
my fourth graders, they enjoyed sharing different types of weather they’ve seen
through a Weather Scavenger Hunt. (I linked a copy of this FREEBIE, for you to
enjoy!) This activity engages all levels
of students, as they learn about different experiences from their
classmates! My students who have lived
in different parts of the country, were eager to tell more about their
experiences, which led into some interesting personal narratives!
